Johnson City Wrestling Toughest Kids

We’re looking for the toughest kids in the region. The strongest kids. The most athletic kids. The relentless competitors who refuse to back down from a challenge.

If that sounds like your child—or the athlete you believe they could become—Johnson City Wrestling may be exactly what they need.

Our youth wrestling program in Johnson City, Tennessee, welcomes boys and girls in grades K–8 from throughout Northeast Tennessee and the surrounding region. Your child’s first practice is completely free.

Wrestling Builds Better Athletes

Wrestling develops physical and mental abilities that give young athletes an advantage in nearly every sport they play.

Young wrestlers develop:

  • Strength and explosive power
  • Balance, coordination, and body control
  • Leverage and positioning
  • Speed, stamina, and conditioning
  • Discipline and personal responsibility
  • Confidence under pressure
  • Mental toughness and resilience

That foundation can help athletes improve in football, basketball, soccer, baseball, lacrosse, rugby, gymnastics, boxing, martial arts, jiu-jitsu, and many other sports.

Wrestling teaches kids how to stay composed when they are tired, uncomfortable, or facing a difficult opponent. They learn that improvement comes through consistent effort—not excuses.

A Proven Youth Wrestling Program

Johnson City Wrestling provides a structured, competitive environment where young athletes can develop at an appropriate pace.

During the 2025–2026 season, our wrestlers earned 16 state medals.

That success came from athletes of different ages, backgrounds, and experience levels who were willing to practice, learn, and work hard.

We are proud of those results, but medals are not our only measure of success. We want every wrestler to become stronger, more disciplined, more confident, and better prepared to face challenges on and off the mat.

Beginner Wrestling Practices Start October 13

No previous wrestling experience is required.

Our beginner group introduces young athletes to fundamental movement, balance, positioning, takedowns, control, and safe wrestling technique.

Separating beginners and experienced wrestlers allows our coaches to give each athlete instruction and challenges that match their current level.

Beginners

Experience: Under one year
Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 6:00–7:00 PM
Begins: October 13

Experienced Wrestlers

Experience: One or more years
Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 6:00–8:00 PM

If you are unsure which group is right for your child, contact Coach Jamison at jamisonwrestling@gmail.com.
